This movie could have been so much better than what it is. You can see the dark, gritty attitude shine through at times, but this is not utilized to its full effect. Instead you are presented with cheese, a lot of cheese. At some parts of the movie after the characters have finished killing people they pose for the camera, that kind of cheese. Some aspects of the movie however make it watchable, the anticipation that something scary is going to present itself, like the character at the start whom gets the politicians family killed, but no, you get more cheese.
The acting in this movie is awful, but not really because of the actors, but case of the awful script. Nobody could make those garbage lines and random poses play well. I would love to see a mastermind actor such as Robert Dinero do one of those roles just to see if he can pull it off. The main actor Frank Grillo in my opinion is somewhat underrated, he does a decent job. Just look at his work on the show Kingdom (MMA Tv-Series) and he delivers to the best of his ability in this flik as well.
Now with the type of budget a movie like this would have, you would expect a script to be written that is on the same level as the Sinister movie (The first one, not the second crap one). Just make it dark, turn down the action a notch and make the audiance question human nature instead of this garbage thrown at us.
Either way I don’t think writing more about this movie is going to do any good. All you really need to know is that it is a watchable movie if you enjoyed the first and the second one, but don’t expect much. Don’t even expect this to be better than the first or second movie. Just watch it with a sense of relaxation when you are bored or just want to relax with a movie that doesn’t really demand your attention.
