In case you have been waiting for Tekken X Street Figher (2016), there are some bad news. The development has apparently been put on hold.

A representitive from Bandai Namco was interviewed by GAMESPOT. Since Street Fighter V is still a new game on the market and the fact that Tekken 7 is going to be released in 2016, they decided that the market did not need another game within the genre.

How come it is a title containing game series from two different game developers?

In 2010 on San Diego Comic-Con Bandai Namco and Capcom made a deal. Both companies would get access to each others characters in order to create a fighting game each.

Capcom already released their game, Street Fighter x Tekken (2012).

I can see how Bandai Namco wanted to wait at least a while before releasing a game called Tekken x Street Fighter. Imagine the poor parents when they would go to the store before christmas with the kids wishlists.

If a non-gamer had a list that said “Tekken x Street Fighter”, the chances are that they would see “Street Fighter x Tekken” and go: “Close enough, I am not looking through this entire store. I need to learn my kids to write correct names on their wishlists next year”. Why would that parent even look for another game that has the same name, just the words switched around.

Will the perfect time to release the game come?

It is a valid point they are making regarding the big releases already being made this year. How long will they wait though?
